Goofy Coworkers

I've worked with some interesting people before. And now.

We just moved from fancy private offices back into cubicles because there was available cubicle space and someone had to fill it! We were perfectly happy in our little offices, working away in quiet solitude, when someone had to rain on our little parade (language changed slightly from that of my coworkers).

No one is really happy with this change, but this one fellow in my group is really ticked off. Unbelievably, remarkably, surprisingly ticked off. He's spouting soliloquies about how this is a slap in the face of reason, publicly browsing job postings, and spreading bitterness like a lawn spreader spreads fertilizer.

At first I thought it was kind of funny. Office workers are often amused by someone who acts publicly how they feel privately. It's interesting to see what management will do to them.

Observing Employee: "Yeah, Gonzo, go tell the boss you think his latest idea is horrible."
Irate Employee: "Yeah, somebody needs to! I think I will! Duh-er."

But on second thought, I think he is genuinely thinking of leaving, which would dump more work on me and my fellow coworkers, which is already somewhat substantial since Ben bailed on us a few weeks ago.

Goofy

Maybe the three day weekend coming up will help him relax, reprioritize and all that gobbledegook. But I submit to you that if you'll quit a good job with great benefits just because you got moved from an office into a cubicle, why... that's just plain goofy.
