A surprise I didn't want

I worked with this fellow a year or so ago, our lead developer, who was a little bit eccentric but was otherwise a great guy, and lots of fun to work with. He routinely came to work uncombed, unshaven, with food stains on his pants, which we thought was hilarious because he fit the software developer mold so well. I recall one of his children had autism, so he was at the doctor a lot. A few months ago a few coworkers and I met him for lunch to talk about old times.

And then today someone forwarded me this news article with my former coworker's mugshot right up there at the top of the page. For the most heinous of crimes. I was beyond shocked. I still am beyond shocked.

And other than that, I don't really know what to say.
