Marketing Corn(y)

Why do marketing campaigns for software development products have to be so corny?

I was just flipping through a software developer oriented magazine, and all of the advertisements are along the lines of:

"Oh No! The project is behind schedule!"
"Let's give all the developers coffee IVs!"
"Great idea! But we're still behind schedule! What'll we do!"
"I know! Let's use XYZ Product , a modular software development environment platform based on ABC technology that helps the team model, assemble, deploy, and manage service-oriented architecture projects! The whole process will be simpler and faster, and our apps will be flexible and reusable! The software we write today will be the software we use tomorrow!"

And that ad is supposed to convince me to immediately run out and purchase a new development system that probably costs $10,000 or more. By the way, that's the actual text from an ad I came across, and the ad really did show pictures of developers hooked up to coffee IV drips. Do they expect me to push a pair of glasses higher up my forehead and snort milk through my nose?

I especially liked the line about, "the software we write today will be the software we use tomorrow!"
