My friend, if you reject the grace of God, there's no alternative besides destruction. What else can God do with you if you reject Him?
Story after story in the Bible echoes this theme, from Noah's flood to Sodom and Gommorah to the destruction/captivity of Jerusalem after the Jews rejected the Messiah.
As for compassion, God would have spared Sodom from destruction if he could find only 10 righteous souls in the entire city (Genesis 18:32). The righteous he could find were forcibly removed from the city by Angels because of God's mercy (Genesis 19:16).
When Los Angeles meets her doom, you can rest assured that there won't be any righteousness in her.
