Simple Gifts?

Someone took the tune from an old Shaker hymn from the 1800s, called Simple Gifts, and applied it to this song, entitled Lord of the Dance (both links have audio). Lord of the Dance is on a web directory of Christian hymns (cyberhymnal.org), so I assume it was meant to be a hymn.

But I'm afraid I would feel a little uncomfortable singing lyrics like these in church:

Dance, then, wherever you may be;
I am the Lord of the Dance, said he.
And I’ll lead you all wherever you may be,
And I’ll lead you all in the dance, said he.
